At Over the Horizon Counseling and Consulting, your experience matters. We are committed to providing respectful, ethical, high quality care, and believe that transparency is an important part of that commitment. If something feels “off”, we encourage you to let us know, we are always ready to listen. We believe most questions or concerns can be worked through with your therapist or our leadership team directly.
If you ever feel the need to formally report a concern, we honor your right to do so. Below, you will find clear information about your rights, including how to request records or raise concerns, if needed, in accordance with the State of Texas.

Requesting Your Records
You have the right to request access to your records. Over the Horizon Counseling and Consulting retains client records for 7 years - or 5 years after a child turns 18, whichever is longer - as required by law.To request your records, please send us a message through your client portal or email us to request a secure link.
Records will be provided within 15 days of receiving a completed written request, in accordance with Texas law.
Administrative fees may apply.

Ethics and Licensing Concerns
At Over the Horizon Counseling and Consulting, we hold ourselves to high ethical and professional standards. We encourage open communication and are always willing to address concerns directly, whenever possible.If you believe a clinician has acted outside the scope of their license, or violated ethical guidelines, you have the right to file a formal complaint. Licensing concerns can be reported directly to Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council.

Concerns about a Business Practice
If you believe you have been affected by unfair or dishonest business practices in Texas, the Office of the Texas Attorney General offers support and a way to file a consumer complaint.You can learn more about your rights as a consumer and submit a complaint through the Texas Attorney General’s Consumer Protection portal.
Good Faith Estimates for Self-Pay Clients
At Over the Horizon Counseling and Consulting, we believe in transparency and fairness when it comes to the cost of care.
As part of the No Surprises Act, clients who are not using insurance have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate, a clear explanation of the expected cost for services.
If you plan to pay out of pocket, just let your therapist or our administrative team know. We’ll gladly provide this estimate to help you make informed decisions about your care.
